another mot fail

was asked to do some work on a mot fail, nothing major. i always stumble on the labour price when asked, then later wonder if its to cheap or to much..

out of interest, what would you guys charge for rear disks and pads on a 2006 zafera

It's a free market, averages can be established by inquiries like your asking here, but I would image each garage has differing overheads and would have to charge accordingly, so in one respect if you were a mobile mechanic with minimal overheads, you would more than likely be in a good position to charge less, but I would not recommend it, just make a few phone calls and charge an average price.

Not sure about independents but typically circa 60% margin is what a chain would want.

Yes it totally depends on the overheads of the repairer.But a mobile mechanic working out of a van apart from the tech. stuff needed these days,is going to have much less to pay out than a garage.Perhaps that should show up in the labour costs.

I understand where you are coming from, but to be honest there is no loyalty anymore I've seen it many times in my opinion I'd just stick with the average prices charged. Your no better thought of at the end of the day.

I got my dad's mk1 Zafira rear discs and pads of eBay for £35 including postage. The garage in Yorkshire that sold them offered to fit them for £25. Ridiculous far to cheap. Anyway I fitted them for a cuppa.

Labour only would be 55+vat which is one hour at our place.
