Headlight levelling switch

I tested a 05 Nissan micra yesterday & failed it as the levelling switch doesn't adjust the headlamps up & down,,customer came back this morning saying the headlamps haven't got motors to adjust,,,,but their is a switch in car to alter them,,4.1.5 in manual says levelling device must work,,inoperative=Major so the headlights must go up & down.

That's what I assumed,,the customer says he will blank the switch off inside the car,,,,he even tried sayin that they can be adjusted under bonnet,,DODO,,,,yes I replied everytime you put something in the boot & your dazzling everyone with your lights your goint to adjust them under bonnet,,

chances are its had the lights replaced cos they went cloudy,the replacements(at least the cheap/e bay ones) don't come with the electric adjusters cos they cost more than the bloody light did and if they didn't/couldn't swop em over theyre gone for good which up till last week wasn't our problem.just summat else to convince the punters we are a bunch of bellends along with smoke/emls etc etc,am getting REALLY sick of it was ok last year.

Ive just mot'd a Hyundai,,osr light problem,,side light coms on with brake,,brake light comes on with side & its a minor.

ive just tested a rav4 06-2008,failed smoke@1.8,plated for 1.0,only needed to be below 3.0 last year,felt like telling the old boy to take the sticker off but im guessing that would be bringing the scheme into disrepute......

Well thanks to this thread I now know that I've got something else to check for an MOT!!
Didn't spot this in all my training/reading new manual/reading other threads.

dunno about you but I keep forgetting fogs or checking reverse but forgetting h/lamp washers etc etc,we are gonna be fooking up for months yet till all this gets to be second nature,utter dogsh1te.

front fog lamps fitted to vehicles first used on or after 1 March 2018, we got almost 3 years to remember em or am i forgetting something

I'm OK with front fog lamps and reverse, just pretending it's a service and checking them all, regardless. Then if a fault is found,check to see if it is testable etc.
Suppose I'll have to do the same with internal headlight adjusters ( and headlight washers, used to doing those when I see the HID light patterns ' fire up ' )
Will end up going through the whole vehicle with a fine toothed comb and then checking the manual for every little fault found!
Hopefully it'll become second nature soon!
Too many changes at once for it all to sink in/remember!

So you get into work in the morning and you have 8 hours to do, you look at the bookings and you have 14 tests in, you have to remember to check ALL new testable items and then before you enter test results, you have to scroll through that stupid mixed up manual showing all classes of vehicles together and you have to sort out which regulations apply to which class you are testing, that is if you can find them, then find the first used dates, and make sure you get through all the days work on time. 

I might not be used to that manual, but layout and presentation, kids in secondary school could have arranged that much better than DVSA. They should be on the minimum wage for that.

The day I found this reading the new manual I tested and failed two Honda jazz both on near side level motors not working. Phoned Honda and there on back order for 2 months 😂

Hid lights with washers are only a fail if it’s 2009 onwards now is that correct? Before it was any hid light with washers

will need to double check with manual(again!)but I seem to recall it was anything with washers not just hid,still,ive been wrong before,will look it up if and when it happens,cant be long now,had to fail all new items pretty much by now

First test of the day, 2004 Smart, amongst other problems! Both headlight adjusters not working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

had one the first day dragging along the floor,so was the bellypan......

Read somewhere think was a newspaper most common reason for fail is headlight washers now.
