CAR PASSED mot but the steering was damaged

my car passed its MOT on Friday but when I went to collect the next day the steering was not working.  I could not turn the wheel at all to the right or left.  
the garage refuses to take any responsibility for the problem.
It had been in there for a major repair where I paid over 1000 for it and the work was finished and the MOT was done at the end because it had run out.
What can I do.

What were the major repairs?

Was it the same garage that carried out the mot test as carried out the major repairs?

Is it just the power steering not working or has the steering lock jammed?

What vehicle?

You can pay them to investigate it

Or recover it to other garage and pay them to investigate the concern
