MoT Tester-Fraud

I recently followed a six week crown court trial involving 7 defendants charged with fraud. 5 were convicted & imprisoned.

This all revolved around the clocking of over 100 vehicles to the tune of 7 1/2 million miles

Central to the scam was an MoT tester.

I am curious to know what official sanctions would be taken against this man re his future ability to carry on the profession of a tester when he is released from prison.

Who would take those sanctions and would they be made public.

What a fool, every now and then one will appear like a silent fart out of nowhere.
To be a MOT tester you must have no unspent convictions for criminal offences connected with MOT testing or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or intimidation..

How long is the custodial sentence?

There is an increasing length of time before a tester becomes eligible after serving a custodial sentence.
if the sentence is for over 4 years the tester can never return.

He got 18 months.

It will be 5 years at least until his ability to carry out MOT testing would be considered again.

It is. The people behind the scam used to ring him up with details of the vehicle they needed an MOT certificate for & he would supply them.

The cars were never going to the garage.

Its tossers like these who give the trade a bad name. There is crap in every job but the public already believe we are a bunch of sharks.

This is where he worked other than the ministry logo on a photo there is no evidence they do MoT's anymore
