Anyone else read it yet? Going to cause some discussion re the seat belts especially the new rules re child seats.

Cuts or damage (across the belt from side to side) will be considered a major fail if:

it's on either edge of the webbing and is over 2mm

it's away from the webbing edges but is over 4mm

it's anywhere on a child seat belt (this only applies to child seats and restraints that are securely
attached to the vehicle using things like Isofix, carabiners, ratchet straps or nuts and bolts)

So in reality you fail it for a 'securely attached' child seat with a defective belt and the presenter is just going to go away and take the seat out and represent for retest without it. I get the sentiment behind the rule but the practical application in my mind just doesn't work in the real world.

Came here to say exactly that.

The child seat isn’t new, so again, much needed and welcomed clarification.

This is really good news. No more arguments about lifting engines with that damaged belt. I have no problem withe the presenter removing a child seat with damaged webbing and re-presenting the vehicle. I'm testing the vehicle, not the contents. I'm not looking to make myself responsible for any more than that. It may sound callous, but there are people out there doing bad things, and we can't stop them. Just like the filler repair you can't prove, or a wheel cover over a missing wheel nut.
